Smith’s Olde Bar TOMORROW NIGHT!

Hey y’all!

I know I’ve been a bit incommunicado lately and for that I apologize. I’ve been on what the comedian Bill Hicks liked to call a UFO Tour. That’s when you just randomly show up in small towns and cities, do your thing, and then disappear just as quickly.  ;)

Anyway, to the gig…..

WHEN: TOMORROW NIGHT!! Tuesday, October 2, 2007 9:30pm
WHERE: Smith’s Olde Bar, Corner of Piedmont Ave, & Monroe Ave, Atlanta.

I’ll be debuting a new song called, “Someday We’re Gonna Make It.” It’s gonna be the event of the year and if you miss it, you’ll only feel bad for yourself when you hear people saying stuff like, “Man, that new tune was SO freakin’ GOOD!” ;^)

“Days Go By”-Keith Urban

“Days Go By”-Keith Urban

Okay, well, yeah, I play in a country band now, so of course my listening tastes are gonna shift. But this song is just so damn GOOD! He sets it up with a simple acoustic guitar intro, but then, it kicks into overdrive! Once it calms down again, he starts telling a story many of us can probably relate to: “I’m changing lanes, talking on the phone, driving way too fast…” He continues: “Somewhere in the rush I felt, we’re losing ourselves” and of course, the chorus is perfect. “Days Go By, I can feel em flying like a hand out the window in the wind…” How many times have you enjoyed the feeling of just sheer FREEDOM, driving 75 down the interstate, hand out the window taking the wind as it comes at you? This tune is the soundtrack to that feeling.

Eddie’s Attic Publisher’s Showcase TONIGHT

Hey all!

Just wanted to send you a reminder about the Publishers’s Showcase happening at Eddie’s Attic tonight. I’ll most likely be playing around 9:30-10pm. It’s $7 at the door and you’ll hear some of Atlanta’s finest songwriters! I’m playing with a FULL band (backup singers even!) and the rehearsal the other day sounded FAN-friggin’-TASTIC! You’ll be sorry you missed this one if you don’t come! ;^)

Also, wanted to say thanks to everyone who was at the Vinyl and Warehouse shows this past weekend! You guys were awesome and made it a lot of fun! Cheers and beers! Adam

“Razorblade Kiss”-H.I.M. (His Infernal Majesty)

“Razorblade Kiss”-H.I.M. (His Infernal Majesty)

Here I was thinking rock was dead and then along comes Ville Valo and Co. with their Razorblade Romance album. It snuck up on me. But then the fact that these guys make such incredible music was plain to see. On the three albums of theirs I own, I seriously don’t think there’s a bad song, and it’s HARD for me to say that a lot of the time, but in this case it’s warranted!
“Razorblade Kiss” is one of my faves though and starts out with this gloriously low guitar line that becomes the song’s main riff. Valo’s vocals are sincere and bruised in a way that just makes the song that much better. It takes about a minute or so for the song’s actual chorus to come in, but once it does, it’s a fantastic melody that most bands couldn’t write with instructions. The backup vocals in the chorus are pure gold and the basses and guitars are robust. Once the bridge comes in, the band pulls back to nothing but Valo’s voice and a single distant but beautiful sounding electric guitar from which they build back up. By the time they hit the last chorus, if you aren’t sold, then you may never be. But this is one in a long line of fantastic songs by a band known only as H.I.M.

Publishing & Country Music

Kids of all ages! I’ve missed ya!

So in the weeks since we’ve communicated, I’ve signed a publishing deal with GOC Publishing. This means that at some point, you could be watching a movie and…HOLY SHIT!? Is that an ADAM JAMES TUNE!? It could happen!  ;)

I also took a gig with a country road band, and before you cry sellout, this will enable me to finally quit the day job! But don’t think for a minute that you’ll get a reprieve from me because I’ll still be playing here in Atlanta, in New York, and everywhere I can in between!

I also got a new belt, which is pretty cool, but that’s about all there is to it.

God in the City

Hey all,

It’s been a little while since we’ve communicated. I just wanted to let you know that I’ve put up a new tune that I wrote and recorded last night/this morning called “God In The City.” It’s something about a man who thinks he sees God living in a penthouse in a city high above him and the rest of the city’s people. Check it out and let me know what you think of it. I hope you enjoy it! Adam
